It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.

The Italian Experience

travel1CCI-Lanciano presents significant advantages for a study abroad program; Italy and its diverse heritage, culture and recreation are thoroughly integrated into our Summer Academy experience. The collective spirit of the students' desire and excitement about learning combined with the teachers' dedication to teaching and community involvement create the perfect combination for a successful learning experience.

When seeking a study abroad program, Italy has so much to offer. Located minutes from the Adriatic coast, Lanciano is beautifully situated between the ocean and the Apennine mountains. The air is clean and fresh and this small city of 40,000 people is alive with musical concerts all summer long. The streets are lined with small cafés and restaurants and the historical centre is 2300 years old.

The beach at San Vito Marina is a ten minute drive from the town. Local mountain trains are available for day excursions to the magnificent mountain towns. Extra-curricular sports include beach volleyball, hiking, swimming in the Adriatic and aerobics and weightlifting at the local health club.

life2Meals

Students and faculty have lunch and dinner at the School's Inn called the "Allegria". Meals are prepared by two Italian trained chefs and a full kitchen staff. The availability of fresh fruit and vegetables is year round in this region and contributes to nutritious and tasty meals.

Residence Life

life3Faculty chaperones (Dons) live with the students in the college residences which are located just minutes away from the main school building. There are three student buildings and students share a bedroom. Each residence has a common room where students can socialize and watch movies. There is a pay telephone at the "Allegria" dining hall. A student lounge and coffee house are also located at the "Allegria".

life4We suggest that all students purchase an international phone card once they arrive in Italy to make long distance calls. Local calls can be made using the telephones at the "Allegria"; residence phones will accept incming calls only.

Students are responsible for their own laundry. Washers are located in the residences and are free of charge. Students may use these appliances anytime after school and during the evening until 11:00 p.m. Clothing racks are available for drying personal laundry.

Curfew

All students must abide by the following curfew times:

  • Sunday - Thursday:
9:30 pm - lights out at 11:30 pm
  • Friday and Saturday:
Students must return to residence at 12:00 midnight

Family Visits/Travel

Parents wishing to visit and/or travel must do so at the end of the summer session, due to the intense nature of the academic and travel program.
